Around 2PM Wednesday afternoon, SQ police officers from the MRC Pontiac station intercepted a vehicle for speeding on Route 301, in Litchfield.
The driver was doing 127 km/h in a 90 km/h zone.
While the vehicle was pulled over, officers found the licence plate didn’t match the vehicle. Additional checks confirmed that the vehicle was reported stolen in Ontario.
Police ascertained the driver was wanted on several warrants in Ontario, and he was arrested.
The 36-year-old man from Île-du-Grand-Calumet was taken to the SQ station and held in custody for a bail hearing yesterday (Thursday) at the Campbell’s Bay courthouse.
He was likely to receive statements of offence totalling $1162 and 3 demerit points for speeding, driving a vehicle while under penalty and driving a vehicle with a “dummy” plate.
The man could also face charges of possession of property obtained by crime, possession of burglary tools, operation of a vehicle while prohibited and breach of condition.
