Lanark County is beginning a two-year project to rehabilitate the historic Five Span Bridge in Pakenham.
Work this year will include removal and repouring of the existing concrete pier jackets and repointing the masonry joints on the bridge piers.
Bridge closures to help accomplish these tasks begin on Monday July 28th. The closures will commence weekdays an half-hour before sunrise, running to an half-hour before sunset.
On Fridays the repairs will be halted at Noon. The bridge will remain open overnight and on weekends and holidays (which include Civic holiday: Monday, August 4th; Labour Day: Monday, September 1st and Thanksgiving, Monday, October 13th).
A signed detour route will be in effect, using Galetta Side Road, Upper Dwyer Hill Road and Kinburn Side Road.
A live feed view of the bridge site will be available once work begins.
The daily closures are expected to be in place until work wraps up in October.
