The Save the Grove Again Committee will see experts with a national reputation working with it over the summer to identify just whose habitat may be disturbed if Cavanagh Homes gets to develop the 20 acres of meadowland severed earlier this year from the Galilee Centre property.
While these allies gather evidence, you’re invited to assess the situation in person by joining a series of Nature Walks being planned over the summer, conducted by trained guide Sandra Stephens.
Stephens says every twist on the path yields new and rich vistas.
Gillies Grove is a sensory feast.

Chair Lacey Smith says many people who love the Grove are convinced that it is protected, and it doesn’t matter if development goes ahead right next door. The “Grove Roves” will provide enough information in a friendly way to change that perspective.

She says the forest is already expanding into the meadowland acquired by the developer- fact is, it needs room to grow.
