Oops! Mississippi Mills is asking for residents’ patience and cooperation as it investigates a significant watermain leak within the municipal water system.
For starters, a watering ban is now in effect. Please turn off any automatic lawn sprinklers or irrigation systems.
To identify the source of the leak, Roads and Public Works Department staff will begin a comprehensive leak detection program starting overnight on Monday, June 23rd from 1AM-4AM.
Testing will continue throughout the week in different areas of the system.
Your residence may experience drops in water pressure and discolouration due to the testing. While these are an inconvenience, municipal drinking water remains safe and clean and there is no risk of running out of water.
What concerns staff is that the high levels of production being experienced are a stressor for water-related infrastructure, including wells and pumps.
