Concerns are being expressed in Carleton Place that the early onslaught of nice weather is having its consequences.
The Town says its Water Demand Status indicator is at the “Yellow – Conserve”mid-point of the scale.
It indicates that demand on the water treatment plant means usage is higher than normal, but not at critical levels.
Tips for Conserving Water include watering when the sun is low to minimize evaporation, mulch gardens and trees to help retain moisture and prevent weeds, be mindful of not watering paved or unwanted areas, consider harvesting water with rain barrels to use in planters and in the garden; choose drought-resistant trees and plants- and finally, set your lawnmower higher to avoid the grass drying out.
