You have to believe the job evaluation process in McNab-Braeside is only going to get better.
For Chief Administrative Officer Lindsay Lee, when it’s time for her annual performance review, those who sit around the table assessing her work are always wanting to do it differently.
The former Mayor flip-flopped between using the system in place at Renfrew County, Survey Monkey; and subjecting the CAO to a twice-annual process.
We’re not sure what system is currently in place, but beginning next year there will be a new system, SMART Goals.
Newly appointed Councillor Jill Campbell is a private-sector executive by trade, and thinks highly of the acronym.
SMART Goals had its origin in an American Business periodical published back in 1981 by author George T. Doran, and has become somewhat of a standard in the business sector.
His original version stood for: Specific, Measurable, Assignable (later often changed to Achievable or Attainable), Realistic and Time-related.
Councillor Jill Campbell says structured evaluations are accepted as standard practice- even in the public sector.
The CAMA (since we’re using acronyms) may not specifically endorse SMART goals- but it’s a moot point for now.
Councillor Jill Campbell says, in effect, “No worries. We’ll do it next year!”
And her peers agreed.
