
Two people are facing charges after police investigated a traffic complaint about a possible impaired driver.
The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reports the call came in on March 21, around 10 p.m.
“Police located a vehicle matching the description on Kerr Line in Horton Township. Officers searched the vehicle and located suspected drugs and a firearm,” reads an OPP press release.
As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old resident of Portage-du-fort, Quebec was charged with: transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device, or ammunition in a careless manner; careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition; and possession of a Schedule I substance.
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in Pembroke court April 23.
A 39-year-old from Whitewater Region, was charged with: possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order; careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition; transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner; possession of a schedule I substance; and fail to comply with probation order.
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
