After nearly 16 years of dedicated service, Mike Thompson, Business Development Officer at Renfrew County Community Futures Development Corporation (RCCFDC), has announced his well-earned retirement at the end of March 2025. Throughout his tenure, Mike has been a key figure in supporting local businesses, helping entrepreneurs navigate challenges and seize new opportunities in Renfrew County.
Mike’s expertise and commitment to economic development have made a lasting impact on the local business community. “I continue to be amazed at the resilience and resourcefulness of the entrepreneurs throughout Renfrew County,” Mike shared. “I have witnessed business owners overcome financial crises, adapt during COVID-19, and navigate many other challenges. I am confident they will continue to thrive in the current economic climate.”
His contributions have been vital in launching initiatives that empowered local businesses, fostering sustainable growth and long-term success. Reflecting on his career, Mike expressed gratitude for the many relationships he has built over the years. “I have had the honour of meeting and working with hundreds of Renfrew County entrepreneurs since 2009. I sincerely thank everyone for allowing me to be part of your success,” he said.
As Mike transitions into retirement, RCCFDC is excited to welcome Meghan Sutherland as the new Business Development Officer. “I was thrilled to hear that Meghan accepted the position,” Mike commented. “She brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective that will benefit RCCFDC and the businesses we serve.”
