There are 16 days left in the current Ontario Provincial Election Campaign, and candidate aspirations to be present in as many places as possible may be constrained by the realities of riding size, and remaining time to reach the electorate.
Progressive Conservative nominee Billy Denault was interviewed by Oldies 107.7/myFM on Jan. 30 of this year, and suggested he was “raring to go.”
Initially tipped by the Renfrew County Federation of Agriculture that Denault would not be in attendance at Wednesday’s first All Candidates Forum in Cobden Feb. 12, My Broadcasting Corporation staff confirmed the absence (Tuesday, Feb. 11) with PC Campaign Manager, Bill Griese:
“As the campaign progresses it is getting more and more difficult to attend so many worthy events. Due to the nature of such a short election period we have to prioritize our schedule to reflect meeting as many people as possible, this includes meeting residents at the doors and at events within the riding. Unfortunately we will not be attending this All Candidates Meeting, but we wish them well,” Griese wrote in an email.
He confirmed that Denault will also not be participating in a televised YourTV debate planned for Thursday, Feb. 13, noting Denault’s “schedule is filled.”
Denault himself said he remains committed to maximum exposure of the brand at as many occasions that he can.
Doors open at the Cobden Agricultural Hall at 6:30 tonight and the meeting begins at 7 p.m. Because of the forecasted snowstorm, the meeting is being offered in a hybrid format and a Zoom link is available if you pre-register.
