If your recycling isn’t getting picked up- who you gonna call?
Certainly not ghostbusters- but apparently, since the privatization of blue box collection in July of 2023, the contractor in McNab-Braeside doesn’t want you calling the municipality either.
McNab-Braeside Public Works Director Ryan Frew says the contractor gave him an ear full after the Township put up a courtesy notice last week on its Facebook Page when a collection route was missed.
That didn’t sit well with representative Scott Brum.
Deputy Mayor Lori Hoddinott says although the municipality hasn’t been responsible for recycling collection for some considerable time it shouldn’t sit idly by when a collection is missed.
The Deputy Mayor says missed collections are commonplace.
Hoddinott says individual councillors should be kept in the loop if people aren’t happy.
The Public Works Director expressed his certainty that the contractor isn’t satisfied with the current level of complaints, and is interested in seeing things resolved- but that the new producer-driven system will be in effect Province-wide in a year’s time and things could change yet again.
