The game is in Arnprior, but it’s Carleton Place that is host community for Team Kazakhstan in the lead-up to the World Junior Hockey Championships, beginning Boxing Day in Ottawa.
Team Kazakhstan will be staying & training in Carleton Place from Tuesday (December 17th) until December 22nd.
Here are some ways that residents can get involved in the excitement.
Team Kazakhstan practices, in Arena #2 (75 Neelin Street) are open to the public Tuesday from 11AM to 1230PM, Wednesday from 1030AM to Noon, Thursday from 11AM to 1145AM, Friday from Noon to 130PM,
and Saturday from 1030AM to 11:15AM. Restrained Cheering is welcome, but no excessive noise.
Residents are invited to meet the Kazakhstan team in the Carleton Place Arena lobby prior to the Carleton Place Jr A Canadians game on Friday. The team will be in the lobby from 7 to 730PM and will be doing a ceremonial puck drop at 730PM.
Townsfolk are invited to visit the Carleton Place Arena lobby between December 17th and 21st to sign a Town of Carleton Place flag, which will be sent home with Team Kazakhstan to remember their time in the community.
Ad finally, there will be a team send-off held outside of the Carleton Place Arena on Sunday (December 22nd) as the Town formally sends the team off with well wishes to begin their IIHF World Junior Tournament.
Assemble at 11:15, as the club is anticipated to depart at 11:30AM.
