A former elected representative at both Arnprior and McNab-Braeside Council tables is half-way to seeing his Remembrance Day wishes addressed for the annual cenotaph ceremony on John Street in Arnprior, adjacent to ARH.
Tom Peckett wrote both Councils following commemorations last Monday, offering suggestions on how the dignity of the event can be enhanced.
He is concerned that leaving the stretch of John Street in front of the War Memorial open while the service is in progress leaves it vulnerable to disrespect from loud vehicular traffic, and would like to see the route cordoned from the Lake and John Street intersection- a responsibility Arnprior could easily undertake.
Peckett would also like to see Arnprior Regional Health cooperate by restricting medical appointments on November 11th between 1030AM and 1145AM day of, and keeping exit gates closed until the service has finished.
One of the former representative’s suggestions was adopted November 19th, when McNab-Braeside Council consented to allow a Township loud-speaker system to be made available to Arnprior, if it so desires.
Peckett reminds Branch 174 of proper flag-pole inspection protocols which should prevail.
It is anticipated his request will come before Arnprior Council at its meeting November 25th.
