Infrastructure was already among the top concerns of Ottawa’s Ward 5 residents in advance of a Municipal Rural Summit, now slated for November.
Now, the significant rainfall received in West Carleton-March Friday (August 9th) has amplified the imperative by creating flooding in various localities including Carp, Old Maple Lane in Dunrobin and a section of John Shaw Road.
Ottawa City Councillor for the district, Clarke Kelly indicated in a post to constituents that the vicinity of Marchhurst and Murphy Side Road had been inundated as well, and encouraged residents to report all flooding issues to the “311” contact number, copying his office with their correspondence.
(“Please call or email 311@ottawa.ca and copy my office at Clarke.Kelly@Ottawa.ca“).
A planned Hydro One power outage for maintenance purposes Sunday was postponed as work would have been difficult for crews- and inappropriate for residents with flooded basements.
