If you love giggles and good times, the Arnprior Lions Club’s upcoming fundraiser is just the thing for you.
This Saturday in the Giant Tiger parking lot, the Lions are hosting the second annual Jail or Bail event, which will see a who’s who of Arnprior community members playfully “get arrested,” face mock trials, and rely on donations to “bail” them out.
Lion Don Gougeon tells us that last year’s event, which raised more than $8,000, was great fun.
More than 20 “criminals” will face judge Ray Larocque, a retired OPP officer who “does a great job.”
Representatives from the legion, local businesses and organizations, even the man in red, dear old Santa Claus, will be in the clink.
There will be no shortage of laughs, says Don.
Funds raised will help the Lions fund their various community projects, including school bursaries and scholarships through the education foundation, give gift baskets for residents of the Grove at Christmas and at Eastertime, and helping fire victims and local residents in need.
Don tells us that the Men’s Shed recently made a whole pile of toys to go to the victims of the flooding in Nova Scotia.
Jail or Bail is this Saturday, June 22, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Giant Tiger parking lot. Music, free hot dogs and water will be part of the fun. Visit the event’s Facebook page for more info.
