Lanark County Public Works has issued an update on Blakeney Bridge Reconstruction.
Work that was to have commenced next week will now start July 2nd.
The existing single-lane bridge, built in 1915, will be replaced with a two-lane modular bridge with a widened shoulder to accommodate pedestrians.
Work includes all new concrete abutments and piers.
Looby Construction will handle the contract.
During the replacement work, the Five Arches Bridge in Pakenham and Ottawa Street Bridge in Almonte are the nearest alternatives for crossing the Mississippi River.

There will also be a time-lapse video you can watch on the website.
