The 80th Anniversary of the D-Day Invasion, a significant event for Allied Nations on the Western Front fighting the advance of Nazism in Europe is upon us.
Few veterans from the event remain, and it’s up to all of us to keep the memory of the battle, and its significance to the lives we lead today, alive.
It has been called the greatest seaborne invasion of all time.
The Allied assault on Normandy began on June 6th, 1944, and led to the long, wearying struggle that followed to liberate the Norman countryside.
In Carleton Place, the Captain A. Roy Brown Legion Branch 192 will be holding a special Parade and Ceremony to remember the historic event on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of D-Day.
The parade will be held on Saturday, June 8th beginning at 1245PM from Mill Street beside Town Hall and proceed along Bridge Street to Franklin Street to Veterans Way.
The procession will be led by the Almonte Legion Branch 240 Pipes and Drums.
All are welcome to attend.
