A new study suggests cannabis legalization led to a spike in the number of older adults visiting Ontario’s emergency rooms.
The study was published yesterday in the peer-reviewed journal JAMA Internal Medicine.
It found that the number of people 65 and older checking into E-Rs in Ontario for what amounted to cannabis poisoning grew sharply over an eight year period.
There was a jump right after cannabis was legalized, and another after edibles were introduced to the market.
