With the pace of life today, more and more Canadians are vulnerable to Pulmonary Hypertension, a condition in which high blood pressure affects arteries of the lungs, and right side of the heart.
This results in chest pain and shortness of breath.
To raise awareness in Mississippi Mills, Town Council has declared May 5th, as World Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) Day in the Municipality.
It is estimated that approximately 5,000 Canadians have been diagnosed- but as many as double that number may be affected.
Almonte Old Town Hall and the Falls will also be illuminated in purple on May 5th, in recognition of World PH Day.
