If you’re wondering what may go into the old Liquor Store location at 10 William Street in Arnprior, there may be an answer on the horizon.
A Public Meeting was held as part of Town Council’s regular session April 22nd where plans were discussed for at least a temporary use.
That’s Chief Administrative Officer Robin Paquette, who says “Temporary Use” is an option the Province allows, if certain criteria are met.
The vacant site is already serviced, and there’s ample parking- so cross two factors from the list right off the top. There should be minimal alterations so that neither the proponent or the municipality is saddled with additional expenses.
As well, traffic disruptions should not be increased at the inconvenience of residents.
Four residents spoke to the matter at the Public Meeting, and traffic volumes on Daniel Street were top of mind.
The proponent advised neighbours that the intended use is the fabrication of specialized stainless steel medical cabinets and materials would be received and discharged by smaller industrial vans. Five persons would be employed in the assembly process, and following this temporary use there are plans to convert the former liquor store to a health clinic (likely in five years time).
CAO Paquette says the public’s concerns have been noted, and the next step in the process could come as soon as May 13th.
The site has been vacant for approximately four years.
