Heading to an online casino could have you risking more than you bargained for.
Our local OPP, alongside the Investigations and Enforcement Bureau and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, is reminding Ottawa Valley residents to use caution when accessing online casinos through advertisements on social media.
This comes after police were alerted back on April 11th to a suspected fraudulent ad for an online gaming platform supposedly hosted by Casino RAMA.
In reality, the advertisement would redirect the user to a false application download page associated with WinSpirit Casino, an unregistered gaming website not affiliated with Casino RAMA.
The two authorities remind Ottawa Valley residents choosing to gamble online to always be sure the site they’re playing on is registered with the AGCO to ensure game integrity, data security, and player protections. A full list of Ontario’s regulated casino and internet gaming sites can be found on the OLG and iGaming Ontario websites.
