“I hope this can bring peace to many families” reaction comes in following death of convicted Ottawa Valley murder

The man who murdered three Ottawa Valley women that sparked an inquest to end intimate partner violence (IPV) in Ontario, has died and reaction is starting to pour in.

Basil Borutski died in custody of apparent natural causes at Milhaven Institution in Bath. The 66 year-old was convicted of killing his ex partners Nathalie Warmerdam, Anastasia Kuzyk, and Carol Culleton over one September day in 2015.

Lanark County Interval House Executive Director Erin Lee testified at the inquest.

She says news of this type leads to a very personal reaction for the family and friends of those touched by his violence.

Lee says in the end we need to remain focused on the recommendations from the inquest and work to ending IPV in Ontario and beyond.

The slayings led to 86 recommendations being made by the jury at the inquest.
