A family devastated by a Friday evening fire on Hogan Drive in McNab/Braeside is grateful for community support as they begin the journey of rebuilding “from the ground up.”
Following an impassioned plea from the family, a GoFundMe campaign for Ilan and Masha Ermonik has amassed more than $11,000.
The couple says their lives were turned upside down by the Friday, March 15 fire that consumed everything they owned.
“The flames swept through our home mercilessly, taking with them not just the physical structure, but all of our possessions, memories, and sense of security,” they wrote. “In a matter of minutes, everything we had worked for and cherished was reduced to ashes.”
And while the pain of losing their home and belongings is “indescribable” Ilan and Masha say what hurst most is seeing the effect the tragedy has had on their children.
“They’ve lost their toys, their clothes, and the sense of safety that comes with having a home. It’s a heart-wrenching situation that we wouldn’t wish upon anyone,” they wrote.
The Ermoniks say they are grateful for any help, whether it’s financial support, sharing details of the fundraiser, giving words of encouragement or simply by keeping the family in your thoughts and prayers.
Donations will provide the family with needed immediate relief – shelter, clothing, food, and other essentials – to get them through this challenging time.
“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, your generosity, and your unwavering support,” they wrote.
