It’s something new the Town of Arnprior is trying and it’s proving to be a favourable move.
Town officials have elected to keep ice in the Bert Hall Arena (Arena A) this spring. The ice is typically removed from April to June for annual maintenance and to host special events on the cement slab surface.
“The last couple of years we’ve had a lot of interest in having ice at that time of year, so we opted to offer it,” recreation director Graeme Ivory told Oldies 107.7. “There’s limited availability, so it’s worked out in our favour.”
While there has already been substantial interest in ice rentals along with town-run programming, including public skating and shinny, there are some remaining ice times available for private rentals.
Interested renters can view availability online through the Town’s PerfectMind portal and call the Nick Smith Centre at 613-623-7301 or email at recreation@arnprior.ca to rent ice. If you are looking for a consistent ice time, space is available after 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and after 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
The town also has ice in the Bert Hall Arena between June and September. Interested renters can email recreation@arnprior.ca to learn more about summer ice availability.
