A Friday night fire in Arnprior has left three sheds and the outside of a home damaged.
Fire Chief Rick Desarmia said that around 7:25 p.m. on Friday, March 8, crews were called for a shed on fire in the backyard of 274 Alicia St.
The fire then spread to a second shed in the yard and then across the fence to a plastic portable shelter at 280 Alicia St. The blaze also damaged the exterior siding of a home at 49 Ida Street South.
“We had things under control very soon after arriving on scene,” said Desarmia. “We protected the exposure of the house and extinguished the fire. We checked for interior damage of the home that was involved to make sure there was no fire spread to another structure.”
The damage to the house involved the siding and was largely cosmetic, said the chief. Shed contents destroyed in the fire included sports equipment, tools, tires and other items.
The homeowner placed the first call to 911. However, the incident did cause quite a stir in the neighbourhood, with seven 911 calls being logged. Crews were on scene a little over an hour.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
“It’s still under investigation,” said Desarmia.
