It’s been a cordial parting process for the soon-to-be former unionized employees at Arnprior Aerospace two weeks hence.
Tom Lowe is on the negotiating committee for the departure settlement for the plant’s 71 remaining workers.
He’s impressed with the level of political interest shown not only by our elected representatives at Queen’s Park and on Parliament Hill, but also from the federal Liberal government.
The Machinist and Aerospace Worker Lodge representative says his role has been to enhance the severance settlement as much as can be achieved.
Lowe says the skill sets of the terminated membership are attracting interest elsewhere in the Valley.
The local ONTRAC has been supportive both by what’s offered- and the hope it implies
Lowe says, effectively, “all good things must come to an end”.
Tom says the final shift Wednesday March 6th will clock out early.
He reiterates his gratitude to have enjoyed a three-decades-plus association that allowed for a high-paying job just minutes from home- and moves on to a new situation personally on March 18th.
