A caravan of snowmobilers on a path of healing is back on the trails after a quick stop in the Pontiac region.
Over 50 riders taking part in the 2024 First Nations Expedition were in Fort Coulonge on Tuesday, lodging at the Spruceholme Inn before continuing east through Shawville towards Maniwaki.
The visit was part of a 14-day, 3250-kilometre journey aimed at connecting Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities through a celebration of collaboration, understanding, and friendship.
Stéphane Desroches, Executive Director of the Quebec Federation of Snowmobile Clubs, says the trip symbolizes “the fruitful exchanges between our communities over the years that are a testament to the importance of building bridges, connecting, and celebrating our diversity.”
The expedition wraps up on Saturday, when the snowmobilers arrive in Meshkenu Territory, near Quebec City.
