The Renfrew Victoria Hospital Board of Directors is gearing up for anticipated consideration of its Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) proposal to Ontario Health (OH) and the Ministry of Health (MOH).
The proposal has received the prerequisite support of the Champlain Medical Imaging Network Steering Committee.
Of the 26 nephrology centres in the province, RVH is the only one that does not have MRI on site.
Doing so would save patients having to travel 100 kilometres or more to the nearest MRI site, and enhance quality and efficiency of care through accurate diagnosis, and timely surgical intervention.
The demand for MRI scanning in the RVH Emergency Department(ED) is also high. The ED’s 24-7 front-line physicians require access to an MRI scanner to enhance their existing tool sets.
The proof is above, and the money’s in the bank.
RVH and its partners, including the RVH Foundation and Renfrew Health, together have the necessary reserves to fulfill our obligations on the purchase cost of the MRI and the associated construction. “We are very fortunate to be in this position,” stated Julia Boudreau.
