Advocates of the Arnprior Battery Energy Storage Project, located in Ottawa’s Ward 5, are inviting you to a Public Meeting on the proposal Thursday evening in Fitzroy Harbour.
The two affiliated groups, Arnprior BESS Limited Partnership (the “Proponent”), a controlled subsidiary of PR Development LP (the “Qualified Applicant”), and Potentia Renewables Inc., are proposing a lithium-ion battery energy storage facility of 200 Megawatt-hours capacity occupying about 5 acres of land situated on the northeast side of ON-17, just north of Galetta Sideroad.
They have discarded one grid connection option, and will now concentrate on Connection Option One alone (as shown on the detailed map, attached).
The Arnprior BESS Limited Partnership is applying to the Independent Electricity System Operators for approval in the context of the IESO’s stated forecast of a need for 4,000 MW to service Eastern Ontario by 2030.
The Project is required to conduct a Class Environmental Assessment for Minor Transmission Facilities (“Class EA”), in accordance with the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.
Should this prove successful, construction could begin in spring 2025 and be completed by the end of 2026.
Community Engagement is also a prerequisite, and Thursday’s meeting will initiate steps to accomplish this process.
The meeting is Thursday, November 9th, 2023 from 5-8PM at the Fitzroy Harbour Hall
100 Clifford Campbell St, Fitzroy Harbour
