Start with a hay field, add some laying hens, mix in alpaca fibre and some honey bees, and you have the cash crop equation for Fitzroy Harbour’s Maywell Farms.
Of course there’s the almost-obligatory off-farm jobs for farmer Kevin Mayhew and his spouse, who took over the father-in-law’s farm four years ago, but as he says, if he didn’t like it- he wouldn’t be doing it.
