The evening of September 7th, 2023 will be remembered for years to come, when stories are told about the Arnprior Public Library.
A large amount of rain fell in a very short period of time and numerous buildings from Madawaska Street north towards the river experienced a significant sewer back up.
That’s McNab-Braeside Deputy Mayor Lori Hoddinott, who visited the facility September 23rd- one of two dates the Arnprior Library had made available for tours from municipal representatives.
Fortunately the damage was structural, (if one can say that), and not to the contents of the Library or Archives.
The Town of Arnprior will be processing this damage through its insurance and restoration work is being completed by On Side Restoration Services of Stittsville.
APL staff, particularly the Head Librarian and Library CEO Karen DeLuca, should be commended
for their fast action and adaptability.
Now operating with only the upper floor open, Library staff will retrieve required items from the lower level for patrons as required- until things can be fixed.
McNab-Braeside Library Trustee Shane Kramer provided the written report for inclusion in the Townships agenda for its October 3rd meeting.
