The R. Tait Mckenzie and James Naismith Collections are staying right where they are, and the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority will continue to operate the Mill of Kintail Museum.
The Ford Government had wanted to scale back the Province’s C-As to their core mandate- dams and flow regulation, but in the end settled on three “categories” of service.
The frills are category two, site plan analysis, etcetera.
That’s Mississippi Mills Mayor Christa Lowry, who says the impact to the Town’s coffers to maintain the collections and the museum itself is actually quite modest.
Why?
Lowry recalls the earlier fears that Ottawa, with the lion’s share of contributions to the MVCA, would not want to pony up for the amenities.
The new five year-agreement over the Naismith and Tate McKenzie collections is good news for the tourist attraction.
