If you’re old enough, or fan enough, you may recognize the line, “Among the Garbage and the Flowers”, as coming from the Leonard Cohen ballad, “Suzanne.”
It’s also the title of an exhibition coming to the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum starting Saturday August 5th, and running through to October 7th.
Among the Garbage and the Flowers, brings together the work of 11 women artists who are refining and redefining fibre techniques using cast-off and reclaimed materials.
The Saturday (August 5th) opening is from 2-4PM and the guest curator and other artists will be in attendance to discuss their works.
The following day (August 6th), artist Leila Rich, will host a workshop at the museum, from 10AM to Noon.
Cost is $10 per person and space is limited.
To register, visit the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum website and scroll to the among-the-garbage-and-the-flowers tab.
