You don’t need to pin a medal on their chest to thank the for the service- but it wouldn’t hurt.
During Paramedic Services Week last week (the third week in June), the Lanark County Paramedic Service (LCPS) hosted an inaugural Long Service Medal awards ceremony.
(Medals are awarded to Paramedics after 12 years of dedicated service, with a decorative bar added at 22 and 30 years).
At the ceremony, 20 Paramedics were recognized with Long Service Medals, including four
who were honoured for 30 years of service.
Deputy Chief Breanne Lapointe, and former (retired) Chief Ed MacPherson were among the honourees.
Chief Travis Mellema, who instituted this medal program, was thrilled to finally see the recognition
ceremony come to fruition after COVID-19 derailed his plans in 2020.
Mellema noted, “Reaching these milestones in this career speaks to the calibre of individuals being recognized.”
