A new Aquatics Services Agreement between Renfrew and Arnprior is on the way.
That’s Renfrew Councilor and Chair for the Recreation, Fire, and Protective Services Committee Jason Legris, who shared the proposed agreement at their meeting on Tuesday, February 28th.
He says the streamlined deal will switch their long-standing agreement to a pay-per-person model for use of the pool and swimming lessons provided by the Nick Smith Centre.
The Town of Renfrew will pay an estimated $9,200 to Arnprior and, in exchange, Renfrew residents will now pay the same as Arnprior residents would to use the pool and its services.
Also on Tuesday evening, Renfrew Council agreed to a brand new deal to help Greater Madawaska with fire inspections.
Chief Administrative Officer Rob Tremblay explains that Greater Madawaska is currently without a Fire Inspector, and the deal covers required number of inspections for the Township under the Fire Protection and Prevention Act.
The agreement also includes the potential for extra services like public education and pre-incident planning, as well as frequent reporting between the two sides on fire inspection related matters.
