The core values of Canadian Nuclear Laboratories In Chalk River have been adopted as shared standards by the Renfrew County 2023 Ontario Winter Games.
CNL has long served as a major employer in Renfrew County, and the synchronicity only makes common sense.
What have been mantras at the nuclear site for over seven decades will guide the games locally over the period of February 2nd-12th:
Integrity – Adhering to high ethical standards and strong moral principles, even under pressure.
Respect – Placing a high value on others, treating them fairly, and empathizing with their needs.
Teamwork – The ability to work together, in a collaborative way, toward a common goal.
Accountability – An attitude and a set of actions that affect how we impact people, situations and results in a positive way.
Excellence – Striving to achieve an ever-rising standard of quality through continual improvement and innovation.
Safety – Freedom from harm, danger, injury or loss to people and the environment.
The OWG will draw more than 3,000 young athletes, coaches and officials from across Ontario to compete in 22 individual sports in Renfrew County next month.
Cindy Burwell, OWG manager, says “We believe that the example [CNL sets] can serve as an inspiration to our athletes, volunteers, spectators and officials.
Joe McBrearty, CNL’s President and CEO says “At CNL, our employees work hard to set a good example in the way we conduct ourselves as a company, and we hope that everyone at this year’s games – from the hosts and participants, to the families, fans and friends – will strive to uphold these same values while supporting our incredible athletes.”
