All the endorsements from Renfrew County failed to trickle down to McNab-Braeside voters, who vested their incumbent with a third place finish, while marking Mark MacKenzie’s return to Township politics as Mayor.
Whatever Sustane Technologies pyrolysis waste solution is, or isn’t, the one thing it is NOT is popular with local residents, as MacKenzie summarizes.
The Mayor-Elect likens the election period to a prolonged public meeting, long overdue.
MacKenzie wants to see more resident involvement in working with municipal government.
It’s a Council to which only one incumbent returns. Entering his third term, Scott Brum says this was a difficult election.
It was an election where there was talk, but no turnout- just under 46 percent of voters cast a ballot.
Brum managed 18.3 percent of the vote, while newcomer Kevin Rosien topped the polls with an 18.49 share. Former Councillor Robert Campbell is back after two terms on the sidelines.
Scott Brum believes the new body will gel.
Madame Deputy Mayor is Lori Hoddinott, outpolling incumbent Brian Armsden by 164 votes.
Oliver Jacob ran for Mayor, and is now a former councillor- but he’s not putting away his super hero costume quite yet.
Jacob came second in the Mayoral contest- besting incumbent Tom Peckett with a 27.86 percent tally; in effect, a four-vote margin.
He wishes his fellow nominees well at the Council table.
Kim Dougherty was the voter’s choice for RCDSB School Trustee.
