If you regularly get your news from an Ottawa station or channel, you may be thinking the same voting rules for the coming municipal election apply here too, but they do not.
In both Lanark and Renfrew Counties, voting is electronically- either online or over the phone, and the voting period continues to October 24th.
Your municipality will have sent you a Voter Information Card, with the information you will need to cast your ballot.
It will include a Personal Identification Number (PIN), and a web address where you can log in and make your selections- or, with a touch-tone telephone or cellular device, do the same.
If you have not received a Voter Information Card, you can still get onto the Voters List by checking with your municipal office.
Many towns, cities, or townships will have a dedicated computer at their public office, and staff available to assist you with the process.
In Ontario, the Chief Administrative Officer of the municipality is also the Returning Officer for the Municipal Election, so questions or concerns may be directed to this local individual.
