The first ever Algonquin Trail Town Relay was held on one of the hottest days of the year. The event featured a 100-kilometer bike ride and relay from Petawawa to Arnrprior. Ron Moss, co-chair of the Ottawa Valley Cycling and Active Transportation Alliance (OVCATA), says it was a hot day for a ride, as temperatures were up in the mid 30’s before noon on Saturday, but adds they were taking their time.
Moss says conditions along the Algonquin Trail were perfect for the ride.
Some people made the trip from Petawawa to Cobden, others started in Cobden and a few went the whole 100km.
A golden spike was handed off to representatives in the nine different municipalities that riders passed through.
