The Deep River and District Hospital has declared a COVID-19 outbreak.
The news was shared this afternoon (August 2nd, 2022) and impacts the hospital’s inpatient unit.
The Deep River and District Hospital says two patient cases are associated with the outbreak and no confirmed staff cases at this time.
Due to the outbreak, visits have been paused to the inpatient unit except for essential caregivers and visits for end of life patients will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
Video chats and phone calls can be coordinated and anyone looking to connect with patients on the inpatient unit are asked to contact the nursing team at the hospital.
The Deep River & District Hospital says the outbreak has not impacted access to the Emergency Department, Diagnostic Imaging, Laboratory, any outpatient clinics, the North Renfrew Family Health Team, or the Four Seasons Lodge Long-Term Care Home.
The hospital is working with the health unit to manage the outbreak and a number of protocols have been implemented including:
- Contact tracing and testing
- Isolation protocols
- Enhanced cleaning of high-touch areas
- Increased PPE measures for staff
The Renfrew County and District Health Unit is also monitoring COVID-19 outbreaks at Groves Park Lodge in Renfrew, Valley Manor and Community Living in Barry’s Bay, the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital and Miramichi Lodge long-term care home in Pembroke.
