Urban and rural residents of Mississippi Mills will have different stories on Saturday’s storm.
Almonte and much of Pakenham were reconnected relatively quickly, receiving their power within twelve hours of the storm striking, but much of Mississippi Mills may not see electricity restored into late Thursday.
Mayor Christa Lowry says all of the rural areas and a portion of Almonte remain without power.
Unlike other communities, there are no reports of death or serious injuries but there is much property and vehicle damage.
Lowry says rural residents needing water can visit two locations in Almonte.
Showers and device charging facilities are available at the Arena for Town residents and neighbours from Carleton Place and Beckwith from 830AM until 9 PM.
The Mayor says the Civitan Club has opened their facility, as has the Mississippi Mills Youth Centre, from 10 to 730PM.
It’s neighbour helping neighbour, and neighbour looking in on neighbour.
Mayor Lowry says sooner or later people are turning their attention to clean up.
As of today, the Stewart Community Centre in Pakenham has opened to residents for shower and charging purposes, from 830AM until 9PM
