It’s Oldies Future Leaders Day on 107.7, a presentation of Desjardins Insurance Arnprior. Philip Pilon has settled into a career with the family business and finds it rewarding to continue the tradition of community involvement he has observed in his father’s activities ever since he was little. Phil is the youngest of four children who grew up living above Pilon Family Funeral Home on John Street in Arnprior. At age 25, Phil Pilon says that the Catch 22 of “Experience Inflation” tends to hold back otherwise qualified candidates starting out in the work-a-day-world that don’t have past references on their resumes to boost their chances.
When Phil first attended university, it was for Psychology and Criminology studies at the University of Ottawa, but in his second year, switched the the Funeral Service Program at Humber College. The course included an apprenticeship at Families First Funeral Home in Windsor that he really took a shine to- proving the old axiom, “You have to go away to come back.”
