It’s a big boost in funding for long-term care homes in our community.
More than $7 million has been earmarked by the provincial government as part of a plan to improve conditions in our long term care facilities.
This comes as part of a $673 million commitment from the provincial government to long term care homes across Ontario this year.
MPP for Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke, John Yakabuski tells myFM the cash influx will be used to better conditions for seniors in the following long term care facilities in the area:
- Bonnechere Manor, in Renfrew
- Caressant Care, in Cobden
- Groves Park Lodge, in Renfrew
- Marianhill Nursing Home, in Pembroke
- Miramichi Lodge, in Pembroke
- North Renfrew Long-Term Care, in Deep River
- The Four Seasons Lodge, in Deep River
- Grove Arnprior & District Nursing Home, in Arnprior
- Valley Manor Nursing Home, in Barry’s Bay
The plan for the money is to use it to hire and train more staff as well as re-train current caregivers, with the end goal of providing four hours of care per day to seniors living in long term care by 2025.
