“Ain’t nothin’ here to see, better keep movin.”
A solo OPP officer stationed on Winners’ Circle Drive in Arnprior confirms he’d heard reports that members of the Freedom Convoy exiting Ottawa today were planning to regroup at the Arnprior Airport, but to 4:30 this afternoon, were no-shows at the facility.
While the airport site was plowed for routine operations today, overland access was blocked by debris put in place to bar entrance to the big rigs and supporters.
The suggestion the convoy might make it “destination Arnprior” arose when the last of the trio of convoy organizers, Pat King, live-streamed his arrest on Facebook, suggesting the fall-back plan.
The Arnprior Airport Commission had allowed convoy participants to overnight en route to Ottawa three weeks ago.
Police have left Sussex Drive open as an escape route for the convoy- but it is uncertain how many rigs will attempt an exit, as the operation to reclaim downtown streets in the Nation’s capital continues.
