Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) and Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) are to provide a “Community Update” on a number of topics of interest on Monday (January 24th) from 7-8:30PM.
The live public address will provide an update on progress to build a bright and successful future for the Chalk River Laboratories.
The webinar can be accessed through CNL’s website and/or streamed on CNL’s social media platforms.
In addition to discussing the revitalization of the Chalk River campus, information will be shared on new and exciting projects underway in clean energy, public health and environmental stewardship.
English and French streams will be available, and opportunities to submit questions will follow the prepared remarks.
Registration in advance is encouraged at www.cnl.ca/future
AECL and CNL hope that the webinar will serve as an opportunity for the public to better interact and engage with both organizations.
CNL President and CEO Joe McBrearty is excited that the firm’s vision for the future is taking shape and wants to share it with the wider public, while AECL President and CEO Fred Dermarkar’s concerns are cleaning up legacy waste, while striving to contribute to the government’s priorities of climate change, health, and reconciliation.
CNL’s “Vision 2030” plan charts its activities for the next decade, including the siting of small modular reactors (SMRs) at the Chalk River campus; research into the production and distribution of next-generation medical isotopes, radiopharmaceutical development, hydrogen energy and advanced nuclear fuels research- as well as environmental remediation initiatives and a host of other files.
The Chalk River Laboratories are being modernized through a 10 year capital investment totaling 1.2 billion dollars from AECL, the owner of the site, on behalf of the Government of Canada.
