It’s a day that Carleton Place residents knew would be coming and now have to adjust to.
Starting Monday January 10th, Central Bridge will be completely closed to vehicle, pedestrian, and cycling traffic while the bridge structure is being replaced.
This work will see the entire bridge super-structure replaced, the existing abutments and piers rehabilitated, and new lookout platforms added to the bridge in order to give residents and visitors space to admire the views of the Mississippi River.
There will be new lighting installed to illuminate the underside of the bridge making it a focal point at night.
The entire project is anticipated to be completed in November 2022.
Louis Bray Construction has posted a YouTube video that outlines the work and responds to frequently asked questions.
