Now it can be told!
Esther Fredericksen, who runs an organic farm on Upper Dwyer Hill Road is the Oldies 107.7 Arnprior Kubota Woman Farmer of the year.
Esther is a third-generation farmer who took over the family farm from her father- one of our area’s pioneer organic farmers.
She thinks her late dad would brag on her efforts- just not to her.
Esther has spearheaded the expansion of the organic farm- both in acrerage, and product reach, through marketing.
She says there are currently more women farmers than you might expect- and someday you may see “Fredericksen and daughters” emblazoned on the barn.
While third-generation herself, hubby is somewhat of a novice; he’s a city boy orginally from Wisconsin.
Fredericksen currently cultivates 30 acres of the 100 acre farm and has plans to add a sugar bush- organic, of course.
Esther Fredericksen Arnprior’s KUBOTA WOMAN FARMER OF THE YEAR, congratulations!
