A resident, three dog and a firefighter have been treated for injuries sustained in a Constance Bay house fire.
CityNews is reporting that the dwelling’s occupants called 911 to say that a blaze had spread from a fireplace at their residence in the 700 block of Bayview Drive, and flames were mounting the wall and moving toward the roof.
When Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) arrived, crews could see heavy smoke and flames on the exterior wall and roof, and firefighters were told someone was still inside.
Fire crews quickly located the person on the second floor, and transferred the individual to the care of the Ottawa Paramedic Service.
A firefighter was treated for a minor injury as three small dogs were given oxygen and first aid.
OFS says a ladder truck helped contain the blaze after the fire spread to the attic of the home.
The situation was declared under control about 4:16 this morning.
An OFS investigator is working to determine the cause.
