The Town of Carleton Place has a Bare Root Tree Planting Program that helps maintain and enhance the municipal tree canopy from now into the future.
The municipality makes trees available to Town residents at a subsidized rate of 25 dollars which gets you a tree that’s one inch thick and between six and eight feet tall.
There are ten species available- five large varieties and five smaller ones.
The offer is first-come, first-served with a limit of two trees per household.
The homeowner has some homework to do in order to qualify: figure out the best place on your property to plant your tree(s), and obtain utility line locates from Ontario One Call- a process that can take two or three weeks.
Participants have to attend a virtual tree planting information session slated for Thursday, May 5th at 7:00PM, or have attended a similar session in the past.
Residents must call prior to the session in order to be placed on a list for a tree. Call 613-257-2253 to have your name placed on the list or leave a message providing your name, address, telephone number and tree desired and your name will be placed on the list. Residents must pay for their trees at the Carleton Place Town Hall.
There’s a two week window to pick up your tree(s) at the nursery and there are no refunds for unclaimed trees.
Trees are available ONLY to taxpayers of the Town of Carleton Place and must be planted within Town limits.
