The Township of Lanark Highlands has adopted a Fire Master Plan that recommends the closure of the municipality’s Fire Station on Snye Road in the White Lake area.
That’s among the recommendations the consultant preparing the report came up with.
The move isn’t sitting well with residents in the Township’s northeastern corner, who fear that entering into a proposed service agreement with Mississippi Mills will delay response times in dealing with fire or life-threatening emergencies.
Dan White, who served out of the Snye Road Fire Station as a volunteer firefighter for fifteen years, says the change will also hit residents in the pocketbook, with fire insurance premium increases of an extra 1200 dollars per year.
