Janet Carlile is the curator of the Arnprior and District Museum. As well, she is an advisory member for the Algonquin College Applied Museum Studies Program, a former Ontario Historical Society Board member for a five-year term, and is a board member for the Arnprior and District Archives. Carlile, faced with funding constraints which seem companion to activities in the fields of culture and the arts, has developed a particular talent for fundraising and granting applications known to bear success. Janet says it is important to recruit and motivate talented volunteers who are able to enhance the anecdotal records of the community with complementary and thorough research. Carlile has been enamoured with museum culture since she was ten years old, and parlayed her interest in research to a couple of university degrees. She left a role as a history professor initially for employment as a contract curator with the Arnprior and District Museum in 2002.
